Today’s culture is a high value on beauty. We see advertisements of beautiful women and beauty products everywhere. Social media are full of women with filtered or photographed photos. We look at them and then feel either that we don’t measure it or we try to compete. We spend time and money on doing our hair and nails done and keeping track of the latest styles and trends. However, let’s take the time to stop and think. What does the Bible say about beauty? Does God care for our appearance?

What the Bible says about beauty

The Bible has different types of verses that talk about beauty. There are verses who talk about physical beauty and inner beauty. There are also verses of caution if we are dealing with beauty. As we see from Genesis, God created us in His own image, and he created each of us exactly how he wanted us to be. If you are beautiful, it’s not a mistake. If you just look, it is not a mistake either.

“So God created man for his own image, he created Him in the image of God; he created male and feminine.” Genesis 1:27

“I praise you, because I am anxious and beautifully made. Are you great your works; my soul knows very well.” Psalm 139: 14 ESV

What is God’s definition of beauty?

As we will see, God’s definition of beauty is extremely different from that of society. Culture regards beauty as the appearance and the shape of someone. In fact, the beauty industry is one $ 532 billion dollars industry! God, however, looks at a heart that loves him and follows him. What is amazing is that, although many cannot reach a high level of worldly beauty, all who allow the Truth of the gospel They change can achieve what God calls beautiful. That, Mama, is what eternal value has!

What is inner beauty in the Bible?

So what is inner beauty according to the Bible? As I said above, inner beauty comes from within. Biblical beauty is an inner beauty that transforms us from within. It will radiate from us and give us a look of peace and trust. Inner beauty comes from the fear of the Lord and from godliness. It comes from the good works that result from our faith in Jesus. As we see in the verse below, inner beauty is a lasting beauty of a soft and calm spirit. Even as our body gets older, our inside themselves can become more beautiful.

“Don’t let your decorations be external – braiding hair and applying gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear – But let your decoration be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a soft and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s vision. “I Peter 3: 3-4

Bible verses about the beauty of a woman

There are different verses in the Bible that talk about beauty or the beauty of a woman, but some verses are more indirect with biblical beauty. Instead, they talk about what we should worry about instead of our physical appearance. As followers of Christ, we want to concentrate on things of eternal value instead of things of this earth.

Physical beauty is often mentioned in the Bible when someone is described. The wife of Abraham, Sarah, was very beautiful, for example, even when she was old. In fact, she was taken away twice Because of her appearance. Saul, Absalom and Bathsheeba are other examples of people in the Bible with beautiful shapes and performances. God created us all in our own unique way and he made some people very beautiful. There is beauty throughout creation, also with people, so we are free to enjoy it. View these verses of Song of Solomon:

“See, you are beautiful, my dearest; see, you are beautiful; your eyes are pigeons.” Song of Solomon 1:15

“My loved one speaks and says to me:” Get up, my love, my beautiful, and come away, “” Song of Solomon 2:10

“You are completely beautiful, my dearest; there is no mistake in you.” Song of Solomon 4: 7

Although physical beauty is not sinful, it can become sinful if we allow us to consume. There is the potential for pride to crawl into our hearts and to corrupt us from the inside. This was initially the case with Satan, but later Jesus also accused the Pharisees of looking good from outside while they were full of hypocrisy.

“Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you have damaged your wisdom because of your splendor.
I threw you on the floor; I have exposed you for kings, to confuse their eyes on you. ‘Ezekiel 28:17

“So you also seem fair to others appearance, but you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” Matthew 23:28

Jesus reminds us that we should not worry about what we wear or become obsessed by exercise to the point where we have no time to grow in divinity. As we are remembered in the verses below, this life is more than the physical.

“That’s why I tell you, don’t be worried about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor to your body, what you go on. Is life no more than food, and the body more than clothing?” Matthew 6:25

“Because while physical training is of any value, godliness is of value in all ways, because it is promising for current life and also for the coming life.” 1 Timothy 4: 8

How do we grow in inner beauty? Our relationship with God will transform us from within. While we spend time Read the Bible and in prayerOur hearts will change. As our heart changes, our thoughts and our actions will change.

“For we are his craftsmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that God has prepared in advance that we should walk in it.” Ephesians 2:10

“Finally, brothers, what is true, what is honorable, what is just what is pure, which is beautiful, which is also commendable, if there is some excellence, if there is something praise, think of these things.” Philippians 4: 8

“So we are not losing the courage. Although our outer self -mirror away, our inner self is renewed every day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16

The Bible speaks specifically about the true beauty of a woman and some attributes that contribute to its true biblical beauty. Proverbs 31: 10-31 Is a common passage full of amazing qualities in a woman, but there are several other verses that remind us that we must be women who, above all, fear the Lord. We must be faithful, divine and respectable. As divine women with inner beauty, we even become more valuable than precious jewelry!

“She is more expensive than jewelry, and nothing you want can compare with her.” Proverbs 3:15

“Charm is deceptive and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears that the Lord will be praised.” Proverbs 31:30

“Their wives must also be worthy, not lossers, but sober, faithful in all things.” 1 Timothy 3:11

“Similarly, women must adorn themselves in respectable clothing, with modesty and self -control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing, But with what is appropriate for women who confess godliness – with good works. ‘1 Timothy 2: 9-10

If mothers, unless we give priority to our relationship with God, it can easily fall along the road. Read more about grow closer to God. As we get closer to him, we also become a better woman and mother.

What does God say about our beauty?

So we talked about What the Bible says about beautyThe importance of inner beauty about our appearance, and many Bible verses that help us with those conclusions. Now, Is it a sin to give what you look like? I would say that that depends on you and the value that you place on your appearance. Pray and ask God to reveal your motives. Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, so we must take care of our ‘temples’, but at the same time our looks should not be a higher priority in our lives than what God has called us to do and be. Our relationship with God and His desires for us should never be sacrificed.
