I thought I might have to return. During our family trip to Montana, I was overwhelmed by exhaustion that the four-mile walk runs through the mountain to the top of our favorite rock top. We have been climbing this path for more than twenty years and it is one of the adventures that I look forward to the most every summer. This time my father, my husband and my children were far ahead of me.
When I caught up with them at one of our meeting places, they shared how the walk influenced them much more than ever. We realized that it was probably the smoke in the air of the Canadian burning.
My youngest son stayed a bit with me, followed me and encouraged me in a sweet roloming at the next different sections. He reminded me of how worth the effort, that I had exactly what I needed to complete the journey, and included a visual of what I would see at the top. He encouraged me to just take small steps.
Just like the mountain that I was climbing, life is full of challenges. It is also full of opportunities to chase the dreams that God has placed in our hearts that let us use and develop our gifts while we take small steps to bloom for him.
In Zechariah 4, verse 10, we are reminded that the little things, the small steps, will rejoice. “Because the one who despised the day of little things will rejoice …” ESV.
A great strategy to dig deeper into a verse that inspires is:
• Read the passages before and after the freshly pulled out.
• It is reminded of when and for whom it was initially written.
• Ask how it applies to me today and what it teaches me about who God is.
Zacharia 4 was written by the prophet Zacharia, to give the Israelites hope through the visions that God gave him. God’s people were captured and moved to Babylon after their land was taken and the temple destroyed. Seventy years later, part of the banished was allowed to travel to Jerusalem to rebuild their community and the temple. The construction was delayed and encouragement was needed.
I can relate; I felt like this during my walk. I also felt so in my life. Just like in Zechariah, there is another temple. Our salvation through Jesus transforms us into his temple, where he lives as the Holy Spirit. As the temple of God we can use some direction on how we can be strong in our adventures for us.
There are eight small collection restaurants from this passage that can have a major impact:
• In verse, the angel returns of God and shows how we are never alone. God will wake us up with what He wants us to learn.
• What dreams do we present for our lives? In verse two it asks: “What do you see?”
• The third verse shares the vision of Zacharia on two olive trees whose oil runs directly to the lamps in the temple. Continuous dependence on God’s Spirit fills us just like those lamps.
• Fresh four confirms that it is good for us to ask God questions and to reach prayer if we are confused and insecure.
• When asked in verse Vijf: “Do you not know?” We are reminded that so many answers to our questions are available for us, in God’s Word.
• Talent and skills help us not to succeed; Only God’s Spirit can, verse six reminds us of it.
• God has the power to take the mountains that we climb and make the road forward a normal, fresh seven shares.
• Fresh Tien reminds us that we will find Grand Adventure through small steps, the small triumphs.
God reveals our promises and memories that He is always with us, will support us and His Spirit will be sufficient.
When I reached the top on our walk, every step had been worth it. I had awe for the view and how far I had come. Your adventures ahead, powered by the Holy Spirit, will be worth it too. You will be awe for how far he will bring you.
