Hallelujah: A word of power in the hardest seasons

“What has been living for you this season?”

My mind became empty. I wanted to give a cheerful, encouraging answer, but my brain continued to glitter, crochet on the bone-grown exhaustion that characterized my daily day. Can I give something like life right now?

There are times when the abundance of your life – your family, home, work, community, etc.feel Like the extravagant blessing it is.

But there are other seasons when it feel Like too much. As if you are trying to control a hundred millstones faithfully while they drag you under, overwhelmed by the enormous number of needs.

In his grace, the Lord let me read from the wildness of the Israelites who wandered while I hesitated through this kind of too many season. It is not difficult to imagine that many in this desert also felt a version of my overwhelming, and yet, what stands out in the text is how God repeatedly revealed his character and his care for his people while they traveled to the promised land.

Although this time was loaded with unfulfilled expectations, disastrous idolatry and terrible doubts and disobedience on the part of the Israelites, God steadily gave everything his people needed for their spiritual and physical custody, and formed them in a nation he had introduced to the right place he had prepared for them.

Although this provision does not give the tests of it easierIt reminds us to pay attention and to see where God appears in the midst of our own time of challenge and to respond in the right way praise Instead of complaints.

When we are stressed, it can be easy to look inside and to reflect on everything that is difficult, scary, sad, frustrating and/or tiring about our lives. However, praise moves us from ourselves and to the Lord and it does this or we feeling Such as prices or not.

The word “Hallelujah” is Hebrew for “Prize the Lord.” Although we often consider it a scream of joy, “Hallelujah” is no less useful when we whisper, or even sigh the word while we endure our trials. A “Hallelujah” invites us to reorient our heart and guide us to remember and seek comfort in the steadfastness of WHO God is instead of in the changeable circumstances of our lives. It is the world’s shortest sermon about the character of God.

“Hallelujah” reminds us that we always praise the Lord in all places because he is worthy. God’s holiness and goodness are not situational. He is always for us and of us. He keeps his promises and remembers his people. God loves us and longs for our bloom. With a simple ‘Hallelujah’ we confirm all these things and we encourage our hearts to settle in this truth, even while the circumstance of our lives is in danger of overwhelming us.

If it feels almost impossible to even name one thing that is lives, look at the person who literally gives life and breathe in a ‘hallelujah’. Because of his grace, we are able to endure the hard seasons, to lay faithfully on one foot in front of the other while we go to the promised land. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord.
