In my work with clients over the years, I saw how many women grew up with authoritarian parents (often the father figure) who did not make them feel good enough. As adults, they become overachievers and/or perfectionists, and they do this subconsciously to prove to their caregivers that they are good enough.
This overachieving part is the overactive masculine energy.
What are feminine and masculine energies?
The feminine is the inner world, the presence, the creativity and the nurturing part. The masculine is action, movement and transformation. We need both, but in this world the masculine is rewarded, so women cherish the masculine to survive.
It wasn’t always this way. Many ancient tribes sat in the Council before making any decisions and asked:
“Would we like to honor the feminine with this action?”
This would be a great way to shape society, but we’ve lost all that.
Between this masculine world that rewards action and hard work and the difficult upbringing that left them feeling not good enough, many women prioritize their masculine side and struggle to slow down and listen to their intuition. Because if they stop, they are afraid of being crushed.
When the transition to motherhood takes place
When motherhood comes into the picture, many women are not used to nurturing their feminine side. All the wounds from the past and the ancestors come to the surface and they don’t know how to deal with them. They cannot find their power because it is hidden beneath layers of fears and limiting beliefs.
How to find feminine power in motherhood
This feminine, intuitive power will not be available to you if you don’t do the work, and the work starts from the foundation of the house. This is why the chakra system is so powerful: it takes you through all the different stages you need to work on to connect with your inner power and wisdom.
If you’d like to learn more, check out the video in this other blog post (recorded for a mother’s conference I attended in the past), where I dig deeper into the chakras most affected during the journey of motherhood. I share the story of my transition to motherhood, how trauma affects the chakras, and exercises to reclaim your feminine energy.
