The back story of busy mothers
With everything I write, there is always a story. A moment in time where an experience was gained and a lesson was learned. I will be honest with all of you. Although I like to encourage others with God’s Word, there are times when it needs everything to get into God’s Word. About 2-3 months ago I had an attack of spiritual apathy.
For everything in me I could not get into God’s Word. I would try to read, but my mind went somewhere else. I was often discouraged during that season and came in all the negative self -talk:
“You will never get your spiritual life together.”
“God is absolutely not satisfied with you.”
“How are you going to encourage others in God if you can’t even open your Bible?”
Satan definitely tried to dampen my light at that moment. So I got up and sat down with my Bible until a verse or a notebook spoke to me and brought my hunger and thirst to God in the midst of everything that was going on in my life and in the world. I was tired and I refused to bring another “l” to the enemy. Then I came across this verse that made me fired and I have not been anymore since then. The fresh was:
Study this instruction book constantly. Meditate on it day and night, so you’ll be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you bloom and succeed in everything you do. Joshua 1: 8 NLT
Take an inventory of God’s Word in your life
So to be able to come where God called me in the verse mentioned above. I had to fully understand meditation and what I meditated every day.
Meditation: (Webster 1828’s Dictionary)
Close or constantly thinking; Turning or turning a subject in the mind; Severe contemplation.
Meditate or meditate: (Webster 1828’s Dictionary)
Standing in with everything in mind; to consider; to study; To turn or turn every subject in the Spirit; Appropriate but not exclusively used from pious contemplation, or a consideration of the great truths of religion.
Are planning; have in contemplation.
To think; To turn in the mind.
Reflection
Once I understood what meditation is and what it means in action, I had to dig deeper and find out what was going on in my heart and my Spirit to get into God’s Word. Some questions were:
- What do you concentrate every day?
- If you can think of the last three things you thought of in the last hour, what were your thoughts?
- What is the most important thing for you? Do your thoughts and actions match?
- Why do you think you understand that you neglect to get into God’s Word?
- How do you feel if you don’t get it done? Are these the feelings that you want regularly?
And I tell you all … These questions have eaten me!
I literally became tearful because I know in my heart that I was called for bigger things (Jeremiah 1: 5). This girl urgently needed tough love, not from others, but from myself. Too long I would believe my own deceptions and lies in exchange, making them my truth. (Galatians 6: 3) I had to release myself from this pattern of less than what I knew I could do.
Where does that come from?
With reflection I noticed that I would numb my performance so long and what I know to make others comfortable. Oh! I chose to live half of my life for the comfort of others. I’m so angry with myself. Someone else has ever had a moment when you extended your blessings because of your own choices and do? At that moment I decided to get on the board and be a good steward of the small disciplines and talents that God gave me. (Titus 1: 7-9)
And on that day I started implementing small but impactful ways to get into God’s Word. Maybe you are already doing some of them, but I know they have been such a blessing to keep me focused and meditate on God’s Word day and night. Keep reading …
5 simple ways to get into God’s Word for busy mothers
I don’t like certain things about myself, but sometimes I have to face the facts. I am a busy mother! A busy single mother at that. Working full -time, running my household, taking care of my child, and even working on building my online blog companies and life coaching practice. This mom is tired! In addition to my circumstances, there is no excuse not to take the time to read and process God’s Word. There is the primary way to just sit down and open your Bible, but these alternative ways can infiltrate your daily tasks and activities. Here is the list of ways:
This has been the most useful for me, because I am always in my e -mail to check everything for things, personally and in between. I have found this great dedicated website that sends daily e -mails and physical publications. The website is called The upper room.
I love this devotional one because ordinary people send their own personal devotionals. Every devotional includes a text text, story, personal prayer, prayer focus and thought of the day (to meditate on). I would highly recommend this method if you like to hear the stories and revelation of other people of God’s Word.
Many of you probably already use this app, but for those who don’t know anything about it yet, this app is great. You always have your phone with you as a mother as easy as your phone open, you can be in the word. The Youversion Bible App is a comprehensive source for all your needs.
The Bible app contains daily Bible plans, fresh of the day, you can make contact with friends, gaining access to the Bible anywhere, has all the Bible versions that you can think of and allows you to mark, share and make notes. The Bible app is also supplied in a version for adults and a children’s version. What is a better way than your babies are involved.
All you have to do is go to your App Store, whether Android or iOS can be downloaded. You also have access to this app on your tablet or laptop. I have this app on all my devices and in the bookmarks on my computer.
This is a new method that I do more of when I have finished reading another plan or devotional. I know that there are now many popular pastors who stream and post their sermons online. With Covid and the era of social media, more and more pastors are inclined to post their sermons.
I will post another message with some of my favorite online predecessors who have kept motivated in all these chaos. But there are a few that I always like to look at, such as Joyce Meyers” Priscilla Shirer” Michael Todd” Dharius DanielsAnd even my own predecessor Sean Moore. Instead of Netflix in Binge, you look at a few sermons that leave God’s Word every week.

Follow faith -based, Christian brands on social media
How many of us mums are regularly on social media? The average person is at least 3 hours a day on social media, which is crazy. And I know that for some of our mothers it is a way to escape when the children become overwhelming. I took a big step by cleaning up my news feed from people and pages that do not point me to God. I had to stop following the sexy body page on Instagram that continued to meditate on the thing I asked God to free myself, Lust.
I’m just transparent.
I used various hashtags on Instagram and searched for certain groups/pages on Facebook that share writings and promote the principles of the Bibles. I even share these things on the Made New Mama page Facebook And Instagram. You can start your search there.

Use Bible/Scripture study plans on Pinterest
Last but not least, my favorite platform to waste all my nights, Pinterest. Just kidding. Pinterest is a great platform for getting ideas, recipes and content about every subject you need. Fun fact: Pinterest is the best social platform for mothers and women. I am pretty sure that you have a Pinterest account or have looked at Pinterest at least once.
You can find encouraging articles to improve your spiritual life, printables to organize your Bible study and follow boards that are specific about reading/meditating on God’s Word. You can even find images that you can save in your phone on current scriptures. How great is that! You can start following my Pinterest -Bards You will start that on your journey.
All in all,
Whatever you stand in your way to spend time with God, move it out and make room for it. I can’t mention anything else, that can encourage me, relieve, repair and/or innovate as God can. I know that life can go crazy, especially if you are a single mother who does it all alone. But with every test and tribulation there is a way to escape. And that path is through Jesus. The only way you will know and hug this is to open the Bible and saturate yourself in its truth.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Savior.” Psalm 19:14 ESV
