Personality is that the special, unique thing that makes your house feel less like a furniture showroom and more like You! It is that Collected in the course of time, stories in every corner Type of energy. And the good news is that your house gives this meaningful personal touch is easier than you might think! Here are three of my favorite (easily executable) ways to set up the personality in your home.
1. Paint the mood of your house with color
Color, more than any other design element, sets the atmosphere. Whether you choose to be daring with a dark, moody green or the light and soft with a blush pink, the colors that you choose for both your walls and furniture, do some large emotional work in your house. See color as the mood ring of your house. Do you want your spaces to feel cozy and comfortable? Go for warm, saturated colors. Is whimsical and playful your atmosphere? Try a clear doll of unexpected color in a corner, on a ceiling or a piece of furniture. Moral of the story? Don’t be afraid to play with color! Neutrals can be crowdpleasers in some of your favorite catalogs from home decorations; But at your home you make the rules!
2. Have your walls tell your story
I like to consider the walls in a house as empty pages. Walls offer the perfect opportunity to show your life. Meaningful art, vintage finds, family photos, special mates, artworks for children, these are the pieces that tell you unique story. And when it comes to hanging, the goal does not have to be perfect symmetry or precise distance but stories. Give yourself permission to mix frame styles, colors and sizes. The best gallery walls are not perfect; They are personal. If someone can walk into your house and learn something about you by just looking at your walls, you have nailed it!
3. Style vignettes with collected items
Styling of a plank, table or cloak does not have to be stressful. Vignettes are like small bags with composite personality. Consider a stack of loved books, a candle that you will actually light, a bowl matchbooks from your travels, and the economical treasure that you make smiling every time you walk past. When you have laid documents over time, even a simple plank can tell your story without saying a word.
The pick -up meals here is to play with color, to hang that weird flea market artwork that you just had to have and to let your shelves and surfaces keep in collections of items that speak your language. After all, personality is not really something that you buy, but it is rather an atmosphere that you can slowly put together over time!
