But sometimes it can be difficult to know how to feed your soul. Let’s explore what it means to feed your soul and why it is so important. We will also look at some Bible verses that talk about soul food. And finally, I’ll give you some tips on how you can start feeding your own soul today!
Feed Your Soul Meaning
What does it mean to feed your soul? The definition of the word ‘nourish’ is: to provide what is necessary for growth, development and health. So when we talk about feeding our souls, we are talking about providing what is needed for growth, development and health in our spiritual lives.
One way to think about it is this: our physical bodies need food and water to stay healthy. Well, our spiritual bodies also need nourishment to stay healthy. Just as we need to eat nutritious food and drink plenty of water every day to keep our physical body strong, we also give ourselves spiritual food and water to nourish our spiritual body.
Why feed your soul?
So why is it important to feed your soul? There are many reasons! Here are just a few:
-When our soul is healthy and strong, we are better able to endure the difficult times in life.
-A healthy soul helps us stay focused on what is really important in life.
-A strong soul gives us the courage to stand up for what we believe in, even when it is difficult.
-Nourishing our soul can help us avoid burnout and fatigue.
-A healthy soul allows us to be more present with our family and friends.
– When our souls are healthy and strong, we are better able to resist temptation and sin.
– Our relationships with others improve when our soul is healthy. We are more forgiving, less judgmental and more compassionate.
– We have a greater sense of peace and joy when our souls are healthy. We also notice that we have more meaning in life, even in difficult times.
– A healthy soul leads to a closer relationship with God. As we grow closer to Him, we learn to trust Him more and rely on His strength instead of our own

Feed your soul Bible verse
Believe it or not, the Bible even talks about what will actually nourish us. It is not just about what we bring into our physical body, but especially what we bring into our spiritual self. It is by God’s Word that we are nourished. Here are a few Bible verses that speak to the importance of feeding our souls:
“But he answered, ‘It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4 ESV

I know that in the hustle and bustle of motherhood it can be difficult to find life in God and His Word, but it is crucial that you let it happen. Dear Mom, Jesus longs to be with you. . . to bring you His true nourishment.
How to Feed Your Soul
So how can we feed our soul? Ultimately, we must nourish ourselves spiritually above all. Here are a few tips on how to do that.
- Spend time in prayer. Prayer is essential in growing your relationship with God. It’s okay if you don’t really know what you’re doing. Just talk to Him, thank Him, and bring your questions and needs to Him.
- Read the Bible every day. There are some amazing ones benefits of daily Bible reading a priority in your life. Each of these benefits is a way that your soul can be nourished by God’s Word.


- Participate in worship services and Bible studies. We all need the special encouragement that comes from being in community. This can be so refreshing and nutritious!
- Read Christian books or listen to Christian podcasts and sermons. I find so much encouragement in a great book or sermon, and they inspire me to stay strong in my calling.
- Spend time with people with healthy souls. There’s nothing like dealing with people who are constantly negative, complaining, or gossiping to bring you down. Instead, try to spend time with people who are positive, encouraging, and not afraid to hold you accountable.
As mothers, unless we prioritize our relationship with God, it can easily fall by the wayside. Learn more about grow closer to God. As we grow closer to Him, we also become better wives and mothers.
Feed your soul
Nurture and nourish your soul by spending time with God every day, but also be nourished by caring for yourself physically. When you care for yourself, you can care for your family in all the ways they depend on you. Although the spiritual nourishment of your soul is the most important, you can also give yourself life and energy by taking care of your body properly. Here are some ways to do that.
- Connect with nature. Go outside in the sun. Go for a walk or hike.
- Practice self-care. I’m not talking about being selfish. I’m talking about giving your body and brain a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Try taking 30 minutes in the afternoon to read or pray, take a bath when your husband gets home, or spend some time doing a favorite craft after the kids are in bed.
- Drink plenty of water. Our bodies are made up mostly of water and most of us just don’t drink enough. There are health benefits from drinking enough water. Try it and see how you feel. As your body is nourished, it will be so much easier to be in the space of the mind to nourish your soul.
- Eat real food. No processed, no fast food, but real, healthy food. Give your body what it needs.
- Excercise. I’m not talking about overdoing it, but a short workout in a few days a week can be so beneficial for your physical as well as mental and emotional health. Even if you have trouble exercising, try to at least take a brisk walk with your kids.
