The Secret to Being a More Patient and Present Mom

Patience.

It is a word that I never thought I would use as much as I did.

We constantly ask our children to be patient.

💧 ‘I give you a cup of water as soon as I finished washing this pan. Have some patience. “

🚽 ‘I’m in the bathroom! I will come out like that. You will have to be patient and wait! ‘

And as parents, We wants to be patient.

🧘way with our toddler who is doing everything to do yourself.

🧘️ With our baby who cannot be calmed, regardless of what we try.

🧘way if we have to remind our children for the 5th time to put their shoes away.

We think of patience like one skill. Something we have to learn and practice. Something that parenting experts can help us by offering the sentences and scripts to use in those frustrating situations.

But you could have the best strategies, sentences or skills and still respond impatiently if you are overwhelmed.

If you feel stressed and your mind in a million places that think of that e-mail that you still have to send, is the appointment that you have forgotten to plan, and that house project that is half finished, is, Patience will always be out of reach.

So although you have read the parenting books, listen to the podcast -episodes and view the experts on IG or Tiktok, it is so difficult to put those strategies into practice when you are overwhelmed.

It is difficult to be the calm, current, patient parent you want to be at those moments.

And that is true. a lot of. feeling.

If you are frustrated with yourself because you don’t have enough patience. To respond instead of responding to the calm, patient way you want, I hope that this is also useful for you.

Because what you have to do now is not Practice harder or Leather About patience.

What you have to do is tackle the real problem.

You must one environment Where you can be successful.

🌎 An environment in which it is easier to use all the tools, skills and sentences that you have learned without having to power yourself.

And you create that environment by creating mental space.

You can be present with mental space. To be where your feet are. 👣

  • So you can be quiet with your child who is trying to turn on their shoe for the fifth time.

  • With your baby who keeps crying.

  • Or with your children when they argue with each other.

If you are calm, you can choose and choose language and words that connect. Who tell your children that you are present with them.

If your mind is constantly thinking and strategizing about what the next step is, there is no capacity for that peaceful version of you to be close to the surface.

She is buried under the load of everything else that you have to do.

So you have to start with all those worries, thoughts and memories to get out of your head and on a list.

And then make a plan so that your mind can relax.

If I speak so passionately about making lists and making a plan for your time, that’s not because I love the organization.

It is because of the current impact it has.

If you are overwhelmed and exhausted by all the things you have to do, it is not only not a great experience, but it also influences how you deal with everyone around you, including your children.

Planning is about the relief that comes from knowing that things are being done. That nothing falls due to the cracks.

✨ That relief brings peace of mind.

✨ peace of mind allows you to be where your feet are instead of thinking about what the next step is.

✨ Your plan tells you what the next step is.

Part of being present and being patient is learning those skills – knowing what it looks and sounds like.

But you can’t stop there.

You must also create the environment that will help you to be successful being That type of parent.

And that starts with managing your time and your responsibilities in a way that the auto pilot places things on the autopilot so that you can be where your feet are. Be present. And respond with patience.
