5 Money-Saving Hacks You Should Be Doing at the Grocery Store

1. Use Your Calculator

One of the easiest ways to make sure you aren’t overspending at the grocery store is by using a calculator. You have a calculator app right in your hands if you own a smartphone app.

Add up all the items you are going to buy before heading to the checkout. Make sure you haven’t gone over your budget. Keep in mind of the taxes you might have to buy as well with everything in your shopping cart.

This is a much easier way to keep to your budget. If you don’t have a limit on how much you are spending at the grocery store, now is a great time to do that so you can save even more money!

2. Take Inventory of Your Pantry

Take inventory of what you already have stock within your home. Check out the items you have in your pantry and build your meals for the week around those pantry items you can use up. This will help you also reduce wasting what you have already purchased and reduce the money you spend at the grocery store that week.

3. Scan the Barcodes

Do you want to earn points that you can use towards merchandise and gift cards while just doing your normal weekly shopping at the grocery store?

Just sign up to become a part of the National Consumer Panel. You’ll receive access to their NCPMobile app or get a scanner sent to you that you can use to scan barcodes on all the items you purchase. Then you provide other purchase details to them. NCP will then reward you for the shopping data you provide them with points you can redeem for gift cards, merchandise, and more!

4. Take Pictures of the Receipts

Saving money doesn’t have to take a lot of time. If you are looking to quickly save some money then you need to download the Ibotta app. Ibotta will pay you back for buying items at the grocery store. Before you head into the grocery store, search for items on your shopping list on the app. Then when you get home you can quickly scan your receipt from your shopping trip and the money will be deposited into your account!

5. Get Your Groceries Delivered

Have you ever thought about getting your groceries delivered instead of heading to the store? Getting your groceries delivered to you during a busy week can be a lifesaver but it can also be a great way to save money too.

Rakuten is a free website that allows you to earn cashback with more than 2,500+ stores. There are cashback deals for many popular grocery stores, such as Albertsons, Safeway, Boxed, and Sam’s Club. Just use Rakuten’s website to get your groceries delivered right to your door while you earn cash back!

It doesn’t take much time to sign up and create a Rakuten account either. If you are a new member you can receive a $10 cash bonus within the first 90 days of signing up when you make a qualifying purchase of at least $25.
